Starfleet Strategic Command

TeamSpeak Rules

Preamble:

This document describes how Starfleet Strategic Command [SSC] uses the TeamSpeak service provided by Arnold J. Rimmer and Zohan in support of the fleet.  SSC’s access and control within TeamSpeak is restricted to the channels designated for its use by Rimmer and Zohan.

Please note that since Rimmer and Zohan are the ones paying for the TeamSpeak services they have final say in how it is used and can discontinue it at any time.  In other words we are able to use TeamSpeak at their discretion so it is imperative that we follow the rules of conduct they set regarding TeamSpeak.

SSC TeamSpeak Protocols:

Swearing and Profanity:

Generally speaking, swearing is tolerated in the SSC fleet channels so long as it is not in the form a personal attack.  It is also absolutely not allowed in the presence of minors or those who specifically object to swearing or profanity while in the channel.

Basically be respectful of your fellow Fleetmates.  Banter is okay.

AFK:

If you need to leave the conversation for a moment please identify that you will be away by mentioning it verbally or indicating so in chat.  A simple “AFK” in the chat window will suffice.

You can also move your name up to the “AFK” channel if you plan to be away for a while.

Off Topic in Channel:

When signed into a channel designated for specific topic (such as DPS, Role Play, etc.) please refrain from straying off topic.  Moderators will have the right to remove people from the channel if they insist on speaking off topic but should politely ask the players to remove their conversation to one of the open channels (Default, Lounge or STO).

This section describes the fleet ranks providing an outline of the requirements for the rank and the privileges.  These are subject to change by the JCOS.
See “SSC By Laws-Resource to Rank Sheet” for current standings.

This probationary rank will remain unchanged with the requirement of contributions to accumulate 150,000 Fleet Credits for promotion to Lieutenant for the first stage of access to fleet resources and 50,000 Fleet Credits for alt toons.
  1. Access: No access.  Can only make contributions to fleet bank and active projects under an asset (ie. Starbase, Dilithium Mine, Embassy, etc.).

This second rank is used to define the first stage of commitment and contributions.

    3. Access:
      1. Access to Fleet Store
      2. 8-item withdrawals from fleet bank daily
      3. Promotion to this rank only requires a project that has been approved or assigned by an Admiral or JCOS.
      4. Promotion to this rank is valid for the duration of 1 full month following approval.
        1. This means that it runs until the end of the following month so basically it is 1 through 2 months at a time depending on how late in the first month it was submitted.  This should make it easier to track rather than specific dates.
        2. Strictly speaking Captains should only host one event at a time.  Other events should be passed onto others who would like to serve as Captains or delayed for next month.
          1. If Captains have multiple events, they can seek to serve as Admirals to oversee those projects but must demonstrate real commitment and be willing to accept additional responsibilities.  This will require JCOS approval.
          2. Note: Multiple instances of a single event are fine but they only count as one event.
      5. Captain projects are tracked by the approving Admiral and reported to the JCOS by relaying a Mail Message to the Communications Admiral.
      6. At the end of the month, if no other project is submitted then the player is to be returned to the rank of Commander until they take on another assignment.
  • Admiral [CO]:
Please note that a. - e. are examples using the “Event Coordinator Admiral” role. Specific roles will be defined in the “Fleet Roles” document that accompanies the By Laws.

  2. Manages the activities of Captains
  3. Approves or denies projects
  4. Keeps track of projects via game mail or other JCOS approved method.
  5. Reports Captain promotions/expirations monthly to fleet via fleet mail and directly to JCOS through approved channels.
  6. Access:
    1. Access to the fleet store
    2. Unlimited withdrawals from fleet bank
    3. 1000 Energy Credit withdraw limit daily
  • JCOS:
    1. Absolute Power in the Fleet.
    2. Consists of a body of dedicated members including founding members who effectively own the fleet and determine the direction and nature of the fleet.
    3. Resolves disputes among members
    4. Oversees promotions and demotions of Admirals within the fleet
    5. Unlimited Term Limit but this can be overridden by general agreement among JCOS if necessary.  Rank would be reduced to Commander but can also be reinstated by JCOS if requested.
    6. Should only be active members.

Note: Idle accounts in a fleet are a liability.  One does not have to look far to find instances where a compromised account is used to destroy a fleet, raid it of its resources or hold it hostage by unscrupulous players.  For this reason it is not advisable to maintain idle accounts in the upper ranks of any fleet.  This is especially true of the top rank (in our case the JCOS) as well as the ranks with extended privileges (Captain and Admiral).  This is one important reason why every rank above the rank of Commander must be active and serve a purpose in the fleet and must be reviewed and weeded periodically.  For this reason I am implementing Term limits on the Captain and Admiral ranks.
